The Norwalk City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 property tax levy on April 2nd.
The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, April 2nd, at 5:30 p.m. at Norwalk City Hall, located at 705 North Avenue. Residents and taxpayers will have the opportunity to present objections to or arguments in favor of the proposed levy.
According to the notice, the proposed levy outlines funding for a variety of city services and obligations, including the general fund, employee benefits, liability coverage, and debt service. The proposal also reflects adjustments tied to ongoing city operations and infrastructure needs. City documents indicate the proposed property tax levy includes increases in employee benefits and debt service, along with overall changes to the city’s total property tax collections compared to the current fiscal year.
Officials note that factors contributing to potential increases include rising costs related to staffing, infrastructure, and capital equipment for departments such as police, fire, parks, and city administration, as well as ongoing maintenance expenses.
Following the public hearing, the council will continue the budget process, with additional hearings and approvals required before final adoption of the Fiscal Year 2027 budget. Residents with questions or comments are encouraged to attend the hearing or contact city officials.
