Several Tulip City speech students earned All-State nominations from the Iowa High School Speech Association this winter and will perform at the Individual All-State Festival on Monday.

Pella High School had 14 total individuals receive All-State recognition, with eight of them being selected to perform at the Festival. Pella Christian had two individuals recognized with All-State honors, and both were chosen as performing acts. Pella Christian senior Jenna Vande Zande said that the recognition was unexpected and made it that much more special.

“I mean it was very exciting just because I only really did it for fun, so I wasn’t really looking for a nomination. I was just at home and I got a text from Ella (Hodgell) actually and I was like, ‘What, I made it?’ So I was just really excited because it was something I never expected.”
