The Knoxville School Board will hold their final public hearing for the 2026-2027 certified budget on April 13th.
The first public hearing for the budget was held on Monday, in which there were no oral or written comments. The final part of the process before approving the final certified budget is holding a second and final public hearing where citizens within the school district can voice any concerns, comments, or questions. If the final proposed budget is approved, the district will see a decrease of 29 cents in the district’s property tax rate compared to the prior year. School Business Manager Craig Mobley says this is a chance to have questions answered about the budget.
“This will not be a special meeting but it will be a public hearing at the beginning of our April 13th regular school board meeting. It will just be our proposed certified budget, our entire proposed certified budget. It will show the reduction of the property tax rate of just over 29 cents per one thousand. If anyone has any comments or wants to talk about the proposed certified budget they will be able to come in.”
