While the season is just getting underway, the Pella Christian track and field teams are entering the year focused on making sure they can end the spring strong.

The Eagles will run in 12 meets ahead of the Little Hawkeye Conference and State Qualifying meets in May. The early season schedule has Pella Christian slated to run in nine of those 12 meets in the first four weeks, which head coach Keith Anderson says will give them opportunities to get several athletes in a variety of events. Anderson adds that they also will use meets early in the year to try and find ways to maximize their scoring come postseason time.

“We obviously want everyone peaking in May, getting them ready for that conference meet in early May and then State Qualifying. That will hopefully have everyone performing at their best at the state meet up at Drake.”

The Eagles will begin the outdoor portion of their season on Tuesday at 4:30 pm, with the girls running at the Davis County Relays in Bloomfield and the boys competing at the Chariton Early Bird Meet.
