The Pella Police Department recognized two staff members as the Officer of the Year and Civilian Member of Year at an awards ceremony Tuesday night.

This was the first year the department awarded these honors, with Police Officer Bailey Knouse being named the 2025 Officer of the Year, and Communications Specialist Bethany Hileman being recognized as the 2025 Civilian Member of the Year. Both were nominated and selected by their peers. Officer Knouse was nominated for her exceptional initiative, performance consistency, and commitment to roadway safety within the City of Pella. Knouse said she was grateful that she was nominated to receive the award.

“It was truly an honor. I’d like to give all glory to God. I would not be here today without his continued presence and support. He’s equipped me with the skills and resources to be able to do this job, and I love serving his people, and I’m looking forward to another year of serving his people well.”

Hileman was nominated for her communication skills to relay important information to officers before, during, and after calls, her leadership and work ethic, and willingness to assist others.
