
The Norwalk track and field teams opened their outdoor seasons Tuesday in separate locations. The girls team placed sixth at Simpson College, while the boys competed at Johnston High School.
The Norwalk girls track and field team came in sixth place at the Simpson High School Classic. Six different events placed top five in the meet:
1st Place 1500m – Hannah Schmitz (5:01.47)
1st Place High Jump – Elle Hatlevig (5-04.00)
3rd Place 4x800m – Olive DeRocher, Emelyn Welch, Carsyn Adams, Elizabeth Evans (10:25.10)
4th Place 3000m – Claire Stevenson (12:18.73)
4th Place Shuttle Hurdle – Milena Catic, Kaia Stoulil, Kinsley Stumbaugh, Leah Crick (1:13.00)
5th Place 800m – Olive DeRocher (2:34.42)
The Lady Warriors will next compete on Monday at the Warren County Relays, as they will return to Simpson College’s Bill Buxton Stadium.
The Norwalk boys track and field team competed at the Johnston Early Bird Boys High School Meet, where there were no team scores. Eight different events placed top three in the meet:
1st Place 3200m – Lane Osterloh (9:56.11)
1st Place 4x100m – Xavier Bush, Ethan Winslow, Logan Atherton, Kaiden Kunze (43.46)
2nd Place 800m – Sam Parker (1:59.64)
2nd Place 3200m – Brayden Walderbach (9:58.99)
2nd Place Distance Medley – Jamison Giesemann, Liam Fitzpatrick, Max Kruger, Lane Osterloh (3:53.35)
3rd Place 200m – Ethan Winslow (23.25)
3rd Place 4x800m – Dayton Wright, Daxton Hughes, Aksel Beedon, Sam Buhrow (8:41.78)

The Norwalk boys are slated to compete again this week at the Waukee Northwest Early Bird Meet on Thursday, with events beginning at 4 p.m.
