A Newton man facing eight charges in connection with separate arrests in December and January has been given two consecutive 5-year suspended prison sentences. Evan Dean Limbo pleaded guilty to class D felony charges of willful injury causing bodily injury and 3rd degree burglary.

Court documents filed by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department state Limbo and a female accomplice entered a Highway 14 North residence just north of Newton on December 14th of last year, and physically attacked the woman who lives there. The victim got away and ran to a neighbor’s home, but not before she sustained swelling and bruising on her face, a bloody nose, and scratches on her arm. The criminal complaint also states the victim had a no contact order against Limbo at the time, and a window on her home and her phone were damaged during the incident.

Limbo’s second arrest was on January 10th, when the sheriff’s department states he used a pocket knife to stab a man in the chest five times during an altercation at an Island Avenue residence northeast of Newton.

District Court Judge Nicholas Bailey accepted Limbo’s negotiated guilty pleas and dismissed six other charges, including two felonies. Limbo’s sentence also includes a psychological evaluation and treatment, and $2,050 in suspended fines.
