The Norwalk boys track and field team competes in its second outdoor competition of the week today at the Waukee Northwest Early Bird Invite. Events begin at 4:00 p.m. with a six-team field including Ankeny, Ankeny Centennial, Indianola, Norwalk, Urbandale and Northwest.

The Warriors opened the outdoor season at Tuesday’s Johnston Early Bird, placing in the top three eight times in seven events. Lane Osterloh and Brayden Walderbach placed first and second, respectively, in the 3,200-meter run. Norwalk also won the 4×100 relay, running Xavier Bush, Ethan Winslow, Logan Atherton and Kaiden Kunze. Sam Parker took second in the open 800.

Also today, the Norwalk boys soccer team hosts Southeast Polk for a scrimmage. Varsity play begins at 7:30. The Warriors’ season opener is set for Tuesday, March 31, at Newton.
