A man from Iowa City who combines mind-reading with comedy and magic will be speaking in Newton tonight as part of the United Way of Jasper County’s Spring “Voices of Inspiration” speakers series.

Troy Peters, known as “The Mind Meddler”, performs at a wide range of events, from corporate speaking engagements to college campus shows. United Way of Jasper County Executive Director Jessica Lowe Vokes says Peters fits in with the goal of “Voices of Inspiration”, which is to present free speakers that inspire, motivate, inform, and promote life-long learning to Jasper County residents.

“I love the idea that we can have people come and share their stories and knowledge, and that people can get it first hand. You get to be in the audience and take that in and take their knowledge and learn something. I just think that is such a valuable thing for every age.”

Doors to the DMACC Auditorium on the Newton Campus will open at 6:00 pm tonight with “The Mind Meddler’s” program beginning at 6:30 pm. Free-will donations are accepted to help continue the speaker series.
