The Knoxville Community School District will utilize McKay Group as the new health insurance benefits broker for employees.

The Knoxville School Board approved the agreement at Monday night’s meeting. The company the district previously used has seen significant personnel change in the last year, in which their level of service was diminished. The personnel committee then met with other options and ultimately chose McKay Group to be the district’s broker for health, dental, life, LTD, and vision insurance plans.

The district agreed to pay McKay Group a fee of $13.00/per employee per month with an annual adjustment to that rate to be negotiated during the renewal process. The district is currently paying their broker/consultant $14.33/per employee per month. The personnel committee believes that McKay Group can help the district move forward with their employee benefit plans, with employee education for all different types of employee benefits, and with strategic planning for the future all while providing a local connection to employees. Business Manager Craig Mobley says he is glad to have a local company as their new broker.

“We really look forward to having that local connection and we really look forward to having that local connection for our employees as well for when they have any issues or questions. I think it is going to be a great thing for the district and I think it is going to be a good thing for McKay Group by making that decision to stay local. I’m looking forward to building on that for the next several months and seeing where that can go.”

McKay Group is based in Knoxville.
