
A train derailment occurred late Thursday night in Marion County resulting in a corn syrup spill.
The derailment happened at 11:51 pm Thursday night and clean up is ongoing. Fourteen train cars were involved in the derailment, with two of them leaking corn syrup. According to Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt, the spill is contained and there is no danger to the public. The derailment happened south of Kennedy Street on 82nd Avenue in between Knoxville and Pleasantville. BNSF Railway is handling the clean up efforts.
