The Newton boys tennis team will begin their season Monday at Knoxville. Due to the rehabilitation of the tennis courts at Newton’s Aurora Park, the defending Little Hawkeye Conference Champions will not have any home events this year. In addition, head coach Jared Gerber has to replace six seniors who covered all of the team’s Flight One, Two, and Six singles matches, and all but one Flight Five match. 

Ethan Freese is back this year as a senior. He was 4-4 in Flight Four singles matches last season and 1-2 in Flight Five matches. He also played doubles matches. Kaden Marshall, as a freshman last year, was 4-4 in Flight Three singles matches and 1-4 in Flight Four.

The Cardinals’ boys tennis team will take on the Panthers at Knoxville High School at 4:15 p.m. Monday.
