The Pleasantville boys golf team will return five of their six starters from last season.

The Trojans put together a season of many positives last year finishing third at their sectional meet to advance to districts before ultimately finishing eighth at districts to fall just a few spots short of qualifying for the state meet. Among the accomplishments of last season, the Trojan boys also shot the lowest team score in Pleasantville history at their home course. This year Pleasantville will return starters Lincoln Card, Kayne Brent, Easton Cox, Caylor Jones, and Cash Klootwyk after losing just one starter in Lukas Klootwyk to graduation. Second year head coach Sheldon Card says there is currently a two man battle for the final varsity spot. Card tells KNIA/KRLS that there are many advantages to bringing back a core group of guys with significant varsity experience.

“It’s great because they kind of already know what to expect. I do think they are really helping those younger guys. Hopefully there isn’t extra pressure on them because we were so close last year to a really cool thing in going to state but it also allows me to possibly throw in a couple of different guys to see where they would feel, are they good at Pleasantville or are they good elsewhere.”

The Trojan boys golf team will start their season on Tuesday at home.
