The City of Knoxville and Marion County have collaborated on the Knoxville Area Pavement Rehabilitation Project.

This project will consist of three Knoxville area road projects, including asphalt overlay on 110th Ave., a mill and overlay on McKimber Drive, and a mill and overlay on South Attica Road. Marion County is contributing $1 million in local option sales tax funding for the project, and the City of Knoxville will pay $450,000. The project has been approved by the city and at the most recentMarion County Board of Supervisors meeting, the board approved the project and awarded the contract to Norris Asphalt for just under $1.2 Million. City Manager Heather Ussery says it will save the city money, and they were happy to partner with the county.

“We have in our pavement management study that these portions would’ve been looked at in 2031 so about four years early that we are able to do this and it will be about a $400,000 savings to the city so we’re grateful for that partnership with the County and being able to work together.”

The project is expected to be completed in fall of 2026.
