Knoxville and Pleasantville students will compete at the Iowa Jazz Championships on Tuesday.
The annual Iowa Jazz Championships showcases 60 of the state’s finest high school jazz ensembles, featuring 15 groups from each of the four Iowa high school classifications.
Knoxville will perform as a school at 9:30 am in the Class 3A division and Pleasantville will perform at 10:30 am in the Class 2A division. The championships will take place at Iowa State University.
Additionally, Knoxville had three students selected individually to the All-State Jazz Band, including Austin Bishop on the trombone, and Cooper Mattox and Zachary Boender as alternates. The All-State Jazz Band will perform at the Iowa Bandmasters Conference on May 14th at the Downtown Marriott Hotel.
