Pella has switched begun to use a different water supply, says Denny Buyert, Pella Public Works Director. The city is now using the deep Jordan Aquifer, which because of its depth is less affected by the drought. Buyert says they are using a 25% blend of that water. He expects that they won’t need to increase that percentage any further in the near future, but says if they get to 35-50% blend, then residents will notice a taste change in the water. The water is safe to drink, as it’s treated the same way as water from other sources.
