Twin Cedars’ softball completed their regular season and achieved one of their big preseason goals: another Bluegrass Conference title. The Sabers finished at 23 – 8 overall, and only three of those losses were to teams in Class 1A. The rest, including Oskaloosa, Newton, Davis County, Eddyville-Blakesburg and Keokuk, were all 2A – 4A squads. The lady Sabers know they play a tough schedule, says head coach, Zack Dunkin, but he says it does the team good in the long run. Dunkin also tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that their schedule is filled with teams with strong programs and it helps them prepare for not only the Bluegrass Conference schedule, but perhaps more importantly, for the postseason, as well. The Sabers earned a first round bye, and will play Monday’s winner between Moravia and Melcher-Dallas in round two on Wednesday.
