Knoxville’s Streetscape project has moved onto Third Street, and brick paver work is being done on Robinson. Assistant City Manager Dylan Feik says the brick pavers that are going in are intended to promote a pedestrian-friendly area. He says the subcontractor that is doing the brickwork has had some issues getting the correct bricks, so that part of the project has been on hold for awhile. He says a noticeable issue is that the pavers are a little high in the crosswalks, but it has been decided to allow some time for those bricks to settle. If they don’t, Feik says they will be removed, leveled and replaced. He says there is a four-year maintenance bond in place, to allow for repairs as needed once the project is complete.
