A community meeting will be held tomorrow to talk about solutions for the difficulties the Knoxville Public School’s Nutrition Fund is currently facing.
The fund has over $50,000 in delinquent payments for student lunches. In response to the shortfall the School Board has proposed a policy requiring a positive balance for all students. If student accounts fall negative they will be offered an alternative lunch consisting of a cheese sandwich, fruit, vegetable and milk. If an account is more than $40 overdrawn the student will have to bring a lunch from home. In response to the discussion the Knoxville School Board is having regarding the deficit individuals with ideas and concerns are encouraged to attend a public meeting tomorrow in the ISU Extension Office Gymnasium at 7pm. Megan Suhr of Knoxville is coordinating the meeting. Suhr urges that parents, elected officials, church leaders, and all concerned parties attend to brainstorm solutions. The School Board will hold a public hearing on their proposed action Monday,March 28, at the School Administration building.
