The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in special session on Thursday to consider action on the Pershing-Attica Sewer project.

An engineer presented the board with maps of the proposed project area which show the results of a survey of homeowners in Attica, Pershing and the surrounding area. The survey attempted to determine how many homes would participate in the project. The number of households determines the amount of rural development funds that can be requested from the USDA. The DNR has stipulated that the sewer system serving the area must be overhauled for environmental reasons. Ann Rice of Pershing, who attended the meeting, and other residents in the affected area have be working on the project for ten years. The Supervisors will invite residents along Highway 5 and the English Creek housing development to a future session in order to determine whether or not they wish to be included in the project area. The issue was tabled until more information can be gathered.
