The Knoxville City Council has taken the first step towards creating a stormwater utility for Knoxville.
The first reading of the language putting the utility in place passed unanimously at Tuesday night’s council meeting. City Manager Aaron Adams says the current language calls for a $6 charge per housing unit and sets the cap for commercial structures at $100 and industrial buildings at $200. The cap for schools and churches will remain at $35. Two more readings of the change will occur at the next two meetings.
