Heavy rain and potentially severe thunderstorms are expected to pass through this afternoon and evening as a strong cold front sweeps through the area.
According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, a slight risk of severe weather is issued in central Iowa. The primary threats are strong wind, heavy rain, and small hail. One to two inches of rain is in the forecast through Saturday morning.
