The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The board instructed the county attorney’s office to construct a quit claims deed for a property adjacent to the Knoxville Memorial Hall to be purchased by the Baty Tucker Post 168 in Knoxville. They also heard an update from E911 board members in which the Board of Supervisors was informed of a plan for a consultant to potentially be brought in to assess and make recommendations for updates to the current radio communications system in Marion County.
The board approved a special events request for the Lighted Parade and Living Windows event to have the 1st floor of the courthouse open and a wreath display to be present during the event. The board also approved the appointment of Steve Klein to the Marion County Pioneer Cemetery Commission as well as approved informing the City of Knoxville on the need for repairs to Marion County Senior Nutrition’s Knoxville site. Currently, the county rents the site from the City of Knoxville so it is the City’s responsibility for the repairs. They approved the posting of a vacant part-time fill-in position for Marion County Senior Nutrition as well.
The board approved a resolution approving a 28E agreement for public works mutual assistance for the counties of Boone, Dallas, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Polk, Story and Warren and the cities within such counties during times of needed disaster assistance. They held a public hearing and then approved the road reclassification to level C for 50th Avenue as well as approved the vacating of segments of Harrison Street.
