Some of the best musical theater students in Iowa will be recognized for their efforts Monday in Des Moines.

Cast and crew members from musicalsar Pella Christian, Knoxville, and Pleasantville will be recognized at the Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards Showcase.

Pella Christian’s fall production of Peter Pan earned the Outstanding Overall Technical and Creative Achievement award. Other honors from the production include: Jimmy Beyer (as Peter Pan) with Outstanding Performance in a Principal Role, Ryan Howey (as Smee) and Tyler Egesdal (as Michael Darling) with Special Recognition for a Performance in a Principal Role, as well as Special Recognition for a Cast Ensemble.

The Knoxville High School cast from their spring musical “Cinderella” will receive the award for outstanding overall technical and creative achievement. Two students, Jinni Dingle as Gabriella and Shannon Yocum as Ella, will receive special recognition for their performances in a principal role. The musical will also receive special recognition for dedication to accessible arts opportunities.

For Pleasantville–in their first year entering submissions to the awards show, the cast of “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” will be honored for distinguished scene, as well as outstanding achievement in stage management for stage manager Jack Lauer. The musical also received special recognition for performance in a leading role for Jack Ray for his performance as Snoopy.
