The Indianola girls basketball team is headed back to a familiar place to reach an unfamiliar goal, a state championship. That journey begins today as the Indians girls basketball team faces Cedar Falls in the first round of the class 5A girls state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Indians dispatched Southeast Polk in a tight contest in the regional final, while the Tigers dispatched their postseason opponents easily and have only one blemish on their record. Cedar Falls is led by four double digit scorers, and one averaging 9.7 points per game, while Indianola relies heavily on Grace Berg and Maggie McGraw for scoring, as they put in a combined 39 points per game. Action this afternoon can be heard live on AM 1320 and FM 95.3 KNIA, KNIAKRLS.com, and the free KNIA mobile app, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame begins at 3pm, with tip-off at 3:15.
