An Altoona man was sentenced to four years in prison for animal torture and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent Thursday, stemming from an incident in 2015.

Court documents show that the Knoxville Police Department arrested Aaron Michael Allen after responding to a call of a dog being dragged behind a truck. An officer followed a blood trail through the Knoxville McDonalds drive through parking lot, where he encountered a witness who told police that they had warned Allen that he was dragging a dog behind their car, but he had drove off still dragging the animal. Surveillance video then showed Allen at a gas station in Pleasantville, where he unhooked the dog from the car and attempted to conceal the body.

The ensuing investigation informed police that both the car and the dog were stolen. Allen was sentenced to two years for each crime to be served consecutively, and subject to a $1,250 fine.
