***********THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED**************
While it may not feel like golfing weather outside, the high school season is upon us, and the PCM boys’ golf team competes in their first competition tonight when they travel to Lynnville.
Revenge is on the Mustangs’ minds heading into the season falling two strokes short of a state bid a year ago. PCM will look to get over the hump with Matt Rider at the helm as a first year head coach. Only losing two golfers from 2017, state aspirations are a possibility with Dayton Boell leading the charge. The senior is coming off a state-qualifying year where he placed 25th at the meet. Other top returners for the Mustangs include Andrew VanRyswyk, Noah Lanphier, Reed Worth, and Jackson Thomas. The Mustangs had nine golfers that all averaged less than 45 strokes per nine holes last season.
Other teams in attendance will be Albia, Eddyville-Blakesburg, and the host Hawks.
The season gets started at 4 p.m. tonight at the Diamond Trail Golf Course in Lynnville.
