The Knoxville VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic CBOC is participating in the eighth annual nationwide VA 2K walk to raise awareness for homeless veterans.
This will be the second year that the VA CBOC has participated in the event, which also serves as a way to donate much needed health items to veterans who need them. Volunteer organizer Steve Jetter tells KNIA/KRLS News the public perception on homeless vets needs to change because most of the vets are not dangerous; they just have gone through a lot during their service and they prefer to be left alone. They still need help with things that we might not even think of like shampoo or toothpaste. The walk will take place on May 16th from 10am – noon, with everyone welcome to attend.
