It was another bitter loss to swallow last night for the Pella baseball team, who dropped their second straight game in very similar fashion. Pella led Chariton 1-0 through five innings, but gave up four runs in the sixth inning, which held up for the final 4-1 score.
Despite the loss, Schyler Kane pitched well for the Little Dutch, going 5 1/3 innings on the mound without giving up an earned run. Identical to the previous night’s game, Pella also got great output offensively from their first two batters, as Mark Frommelt and Trevor Wood each went 2-for-3. Unfortunately, the remaining 7 batters combined for just one hit.
Pella is now 1-2 overall and travels to Newton tonight for a conference game with the Cardinals.
