Two individuals who had success at the Knoxville Raceway are set to be inducted into the Iowa Hall of Fame and Racing Museum in November. Pleasantville’s Earl Wagner, who recored 43 wins at the Knoxville Raceway during his career along with long time owner Gil Sonner will be inducted. Along with his 43 career wins, Wagner qualified for ten Knoxville Nationals A-Mains with his best finish 2nd in 1971, plus he won the track championship three times in 1958, ’59, and ’61. Sonner was a long time car owner, who entered a car into the Knoxville Nationals for 50 straight years. His familiar number 47 was not only a regular at the Knoxville Raceway…but also ran several World of Outlaws shows in the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
