While media from around the county has been reporting that many Americans are boycotting British Petroleum gas stations after the Deep Horizon oil spill in the Gulf, local stations have not seen a negative impact.  Larry Kline, owner of Kline’s Quick Time in Knoxville says he has actually seen the opposite recently, as his gas sales have increased in recent months.  Kline has been at the station since 1966 and says he and his father Jeff have established a solid clientele and thinks Knoxville residents are smart enough to know that boycotting his business would only hurt him and his employees, not the large oil company.  Joel Braafhart, owner of Braafhart’s BP Amoco in Pella says while he has heard many BP gas stations in the southern states have been impacted by boycotts following the oil spill, he has not noticed fewer customers purchasing gas from his business.  Both Kline and Braafhart expressed that they appreciate the support from the local community and customers realizing that they are a locally owned business that employs local residents.
