Team football camps began across the state yesterday, and that means the start of the fall sports season is just around the corner, in fact, it’s just 24 days until football season kicks off locally.
For Pella High, they are coming off a season that saw them achieve their best finish ever, advancing all the way to the Class 3A state championship game, despite having three regular season losses and finishing fourth in their district. Coach Jay Mckinstrey says they use camp as a way to build team chemistry and learn the basics:
He says it’s important that they remember the success from last season, but also important that they realize this is a new team and a new season. This season will see Pella in a new district which will create some new challenges and Mckinstrey is excited to tackle those challenges as the season progresses. Pella opens the season on the road at Newton August 27th.
