The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021 authorizes the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to offer rebates to replace existing school buses with clean and zero-emission models to reduce harmful emissions from older, dirtier buses.

The Twin Cedars School District was one of 13 Iowa schools that have been awarded rebates through the Clean School Bus Award. The 2022 rebate program will fund approximately 2,500 school bus replacements. Twin Cedars is listed for a rebate of $1,580,000.

According to Michelle Clayton, Twin Cedars Transportation Director, Twin Cedars will be getting four school buses with the grant.

EPA announced in September it would nearly double the funding awarded for clean school buses this year following high demand from school districts across the United States that applied for the rebates.
