The Jasper County Board of Supervisors approved a four percent pay increase for a large group of county union employees effective July 1st at their meeting on Tuesday. The increased wages are part of new, one year collective bargaining agreements with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Union, and the Public, Professional, and Maintenance Employees union. Jasper County Director of Human Resources Dennis Simon says the AFSCME union agreement covers county workers in three different departments.

“Those for the sheriff’s office, courthouse maintenance, and elderly nutrition. And for PPME, secondary roads.”

Simon says the collective bargaining agreements have been ratified by union memberships, and signed by AFSCME Local 2480 President Craig Keith and Public, Professional, and Maintenance Employees Local 2003 Business Representative Jason Knight.
