
Both Norwalk soccer teams were defeated 1-0 in matches played on Saturday.
Girls Soccer
The Class 2A fifth-ranked Warrior girls lost to seventh-ranked Independence 1-0 on Day 2 of the DC-G Urbandale Classic. The match was played at Urbandale High School’s Frerichs Field. Independence scored the only goal in the second half and improved to 10-2-1 on the season. Katie Liedtke made two keeper saves for the Warriors, who attempted only two shots on the day – none on goal.
Norwalk, which defeated North Scott 4-1 at the DC-G/Urbandale Classic on Friday, is now 6-2-3 overall. They will return to Urbandale on Monday to face the J-Hawks at 7:00 p.m.
Boys Soccer
On Saturday evening, the Class 3A fourth-ranked Norwalk boys soccer team lost at 4A third-ranked Ames 1-0. It was the fourth consecutive 1-0 loss for the Warrior boys, all against ranked 4A opponents. Ames scored their lone goal in the second half and improved to 10-2-1. Norwalk had opportunities, taking 11 total shots and six shots on goal – five by Tavin Ferner and one by Eli Scavo. Jacoby Robbins tallied four keeper saves.
The Warrior boys are now 4-5-2 overall. They will host 3A second-ranked Urbandale Monday night at 7:30.
