
The Knoxville Boys Track and Field Squad had seven automatic qualifiers to the State Meet next week and could get more wildcards as the Panthers ran at the class 3A State Qualifying meet at Mount Pleasant on Thursday. The Panthers as a team finished 3rd overall and had three qualifiers as champions including Koby Higginbotham in the 110 high hurdles breaking his own school record again in a time of :13.86, he also is going as a winner in the 400 hurdles also with a school record time of :53.53. Cael Irving won the 400 in a time of :50.83. Going as runners-up will be Yusef Gulley in the 200 in a time of 23 seconds flat and the long jump with a new school record leap of 23 feet four inches. Also automatically qualifying was Irving in the 800 and the shuttle hurdle team of Kaiden Smith, Kaison Wilder, Grant DeMoss and Higginbotham. For the girls while no one automatically qualified, the Panthers got 3rd place finishes from Siena Scott in the 100 hurdles and Hannah Dunkin in the 400.
