The Marion County Conservation Department is holding a dandelion delights program on Wednesday.
This event will be from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at the Cordova Park classroom and is an opportunity to learn how to safely forage for dandelions and turn them into donuts, along with a chance to sample dandelion ice cream. Marion County Naturalist Karen Johlas-Szalkowski encourages everyone to participate in this program to learn more about dandelions as not just weeds.
“I wanted to give them a little bit of a different perspective on dandelions. They are actually planted quite often in gardens along with herbs and vegetables. Yes, people see them as a weed but we’re going to sample some of the dandelions and see how we can use them in different dishes and we’re also going to make dandelion donuts and sample some dandelion ice cream.”
Space is limited for this event; register here.
