A Newton man accused of breaking into a home back in February and stealing two shotguns and a rifle was arraigned yesterday on eight felony charges. Newton Police also allege 22-year-old Blake Logue attempted to trade or sell the guns. Court filed criminal complaints state security camera video from Woodrow Wilson Elementary school, which is near the house that was burglarized, shows the suspect walking toward the home at the time of the break-in, and then walking away about half an hour later. Police claim Logue returned to the house in a vehicle just before 5:30 that night and stole a .222 rifle, a .410 bolt-action shotgun and a .410 break-action shotgun. The criminal complaint details that a witness claims he dropped Logue off at the crime scene, and was unaware Logue was burglarizing the home. When Logue returned to the car, the witness said he was carrying three long gun cases. Newton officers also reported finding a text message and photos of one of the missing guns on Logue’s phone. He was allegedly attempting to trade the bolt-action .410 shotgun, and the photos of it confirmed it’s a match to the stolen shotgun.

Logue is facing a class C felony second degree burglary charge along with seven class D felonies. Those include third-degree burglary, three counts of trafficking stolen weapons, and three counts of a domestic abuser in possession of firearms. Logue’s bond is set at $46,300 and his next court appearance is pending.
