The Newton boys golf team ended their season Monday with a sixth place finish in the Class 3A District Meet at Waverly Municipal Golf Course. The Cardinals’ recorded a team score of 331, while hosts from Waverly-Shell Rock won with a 299. Jackson Price was Newton’s top finisher in 15th, shooting a 79. Two other Cardinal golfers produced top twenty-five scores, as Lincoln Peterson was 18th with an 81, and Peyton Rozendaal’s 83 put him in 24th. The other members of Newton’s lineup placed 35th, 39th, and 40th, with Carter Forst recording an 88, Mason Smith shooting a 95 and Lane Rozendaal having a 96. The Cardinals will graduate three seniors from this year’s team, including Jaxson James, Peterson, and Rozendaal.
