
The Indianola City Council met in a regular session and in a study session on Monday night.
In the regular session, the council approved the second reading of several ordinances, including the repealing of Chapter 32 of the Code of Ordinances related to the Indianola Wellness Center Board of Trustees, amendments to rules regarding urban chickens, and sidewalk, zoning, and subdivision regulations in the city limits. The city council also approved resolutions to approve a payment and change order for the Buxton Traffic Signal Project, a professional services agreement with HR Green for the Iowa Avenue Sanitary Sewer Project, and a Home Base Iowa Initiative Application.
In public business, the Indianola City Council approved the second reading of an ordinance amendment to recreational burning rules, held a public hearing and approved a resolution for a second amendment to the Fiscal Year 2025 budget, approved a resolution for a vacation of easements at Emerald Bay Plat 1, and approved the Final Plat for Emerald Bay Plat 2. In new business, the council directed the Indianola Wellness Center Department and Indianola Police Department to fill employee vacancies within their departments.
In the study session that followed, the city council set six-month goals for New Indianola City Manager Jacob Meshke and discussed exploring options for the removal of above-ground fuel storage tanks at the former Warren County Secondary Roads property on North 6th Street.
