The Newton Boys Soccer team won an overtime contest to kick off the Class 3A soccer postseason on Tuesday. The Cardinals defeated Winterset 1-0 with a golden goal by Landon Bozarth, who nabbed a header off of a corner kick. The Cardinals improve to 5-11-2 overall and next head to Indianola on Tuesday, May 27th in the Class 3A Substate 7 semifinals. The Indians are ranked 6th in Class 3A and defeated Newton 7-0 earlier this season.
