The defending champions get the opportunity to officially repeat their 2024 title run after a pair of victories Tuesday earned them a spot in Class 1A’s final eight. The Pella girls tennis team defeated Oskaloosa and Pella Christian 5-0 at their home courts. This was the fourth time in five seasons the Dutch and Eagles clashed in the Class 1A regional finals, and it was advantage Pella on Tuesday, sweeping festivities before doubles could begin despite a push from their crosstown rivals. Hear an interview with the seniors of the Pella girls tennis team on Thursday’s Lely Radio Sports Page on KNIA/KRLS. The Dutch will take on Columbus Catholic in the first round of the state tournament on Saturday; the Sailors have the most state titles of any program in Iowa history.
The final regular season contest of the 2025 spring season was held at Pella High School Tuesday as the #12 Dutch girls soccer team welcomed #2 DCG for conference action and to honor the outgoing class of nine graduates. Pella fell 2-0, hanging tough with a Mustangs team that completed a season shutout of all Little Hawkeye Conference teams. Pella finishes the regular season at 5-8-1 overall and welcomes the winner of Newton and Ballard in the Class 2A regional soccer playoffs on May 28th.
