The #4 in Class 3A Pella baseball team swept Newton in a doubleheader Monday, with game two heard live on 92.1 KRLS. It was all Dutch from the opening inning of game one, as they scored three runs in the top of the first and didn’t look back, adding tallies in nine of the 12 innings played at the HA Lynn Complex. Teagan Hoekstra made his return to the mound in game one after an offseason injury delayed his 2025 start, striking out six batters in five innings of one-hit ball to earn the game one victory. Samuel Carlson struck out ten Cardinals in five innings as well, also giving up just one hit to earn the win in game two. Pella improves to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the conference, next traveling to Norwalk Wednesday. The Cardinals baseball team falls to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in league competition, heading to Oskaloosa on Wednesday.
