
The Indianola baseball team got another gem from George Blake on the mound as they took down Dallas Center-Grimes 6-2, while the softball team fell behind early and couldn’t come back against the Mustangs falling 8-5.
Blake earned a complete game on the mound going the full seven innings striking out nine, while also going 2-3 at the plate driving in two runs. Bo Blake went 2-4 with a double, and Asher Brueck went 1-2 with a run driven in. The Indians improve to 6-3 on the season and 2-2 in Little Hawkeye Conference play, and will host Newton on Friday.
The softball team outhit the Mustangs 11-8, but fell behind 7-0 over the first three innings before the offense found a groove, getting a solo homerun from Alexa Guyer in the fourth, then Guyer hit her second out of the park in the sixth to cut the deficit to 8-3. The Indians then rallied in the seventh, with Sam Gripp hitting a two-run shot, but the deficit was too big for a comeback. The Indians are now 2-3, and will also host Newton on Friday.
