The next meeting for Jasper County’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is set for Monday. Jasper County Emergency Management Agency Director Jamey Robinson says the team consists of volunteers who are trained to help authorities when there are emergencies. He started forming the CERT team back in September, and is looking for more volunteers.

“We will find a position for you. I have had members who live in a wheelchair. I have had members who use canes. There is a job for everybody when it comes to supporting emergency services.”

Robinson says CERT members can help with search and rescues, clear debris from natural disasters, and assist at an Emergency Operation Center. Monday’s CERT meeting will begin at 6 p.m.in the Jasper County Emergency Operations Center at 1030 West 2nd Street South in Newton.
