Norwalk defeated Dubuque Wahlert 4-3 in a matchup of highly-ranked softball teams Saturday afternoon in Norwalk. Delayed two hours by rain, the Class 4A third-ranked Warriors and 3A top-ranked Golden Eagles were scheduled for a doubleheader but settled on playing only one game.
Trailing 1-0, Norwalk scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and added one run in the second to go up 4-1. Brewer allowed six hits, walked none and struck out two batters.
Brewer also connected for her 13th home run of the season and had two RBI. Hadley Michael hit a pair of singles, Maddie Gullion singled to drive in a run and Dani Peters added one hit as well.
Norwalk improved to 30-5 overall, achieving the program’s fourth consecutive 30-win season. Wahlert is now 32-7. The Warriors are back in action Monday night, hosting Class 5A fifth-rated Johnston at 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA and kniakrls.com (KNIA3).
