The Knoxville baseball Squad was unable to solve Saydel on Monday night losing to the Eagles 6-0 in the class 3A Substate semifinal heard live on 95.3 KNIA. After a 1st inning stalemate, Saydel took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single. However, the 3rd inning was where Knoxville would start to commit errors and allow two more runs to get down 3-0. In all the Panthers made five mistakes and Saydel took full advantage. Coach Turner Devore told KNIA/KRLS Sports, pitchers Roston McCarty and Lincoln Norris both pitched well, it was the extra outs that hurt the most.

Devore: “Him and Lincoln only gave up seven hits and we discussed in BP that we would take that, but you just can’t give them any extra outs.”

McCarty took the loss going 4.23 innings allowing six runs on seven hits, three walks and two strikeouts. The Panthers were limited to just three hits, all by Lincoln Norris. Knoxville finishes the season 22-11 and will say goodbye to two seniors, Brenden Woolsey and Carson Cecil.
