Two seniors were a part of the Knoxville baseball program this season. One was an everyday starter Brenden Woolsey, and the other, Carson Cecil, was hampered with an injury that never allowed him to play consistently. Woolsey was the only senior on the pitching staff this summer. Woolsey compiled a 2-2 record in 29.13 innings with 37 strikeouts and 14 walks. Coach Turner Devore tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Woolsey was not only a player he could count on at games, but he was also very reliable away from the field.

Turner: “When he got his chance he still had to fight for position and won that third base job, and he’s flourished ever since. He’s done exactly what we’ve asked him to do whether it’s optional hitting or throwing.”

Woolsey will continue his athletic career this fall at Mount Mercy in Cedar Rapids playing for the football program that is starting a varsity level team this fall.
