The Newton softball team is losing two starters to graduation, outfielder Paige Benson and infielder Chloe Swank. According to Head coach Kory Leiker, Benson and Swank were in his first 8th grade class when he started coaching in Newton. He says you couldn’t ask for two better kids, who gave everything they had to the team for five years.

“Their accomplishments in this sport are amazing. Chloe is going on to play softball at Simpson College and Paige is playing tennis at Central. There’s great things in store for those two young ladies, and I can’t wait to see what it is.”

Benson and Swank both started all 29 games for the Cardinals this year. The team ended up with a 8-21 record. Junior Mack Sims was a captain this year along with Benson and Swank. She started all 29 games and will return next season along with fellow junior and 29 game starter Sloan Brodersen.
