Pella Christian Schools has announced a new mission statement ahead of the 2025-2026 school year.
Last July, the Pella Christian Grade School and Pella Christian High School Boards of Trustees announced the merger of the schools into a unified Pella Christian Schools district, but each school kept their old mission statements during the 2024-2025 school year. High School Principal Kevin Herdegen says that both of the old statements served great purposes but that the new mission statement, “Empowering God’s Children to Join in His Restorative Work”, allows both schools to educate students with the same goal in mind.
“So just backing up a little bit, just a little over a year ago on July 1st, officially, Pella Christian Grade School and Pella Christian High School were merged into one identity. And with that, it allowed the process of looking at who we are collectively, early education through twelfth grade, and both the grade school and high school had mission statements. There was nothing wrong with either of those mission statements, they were beautiful mission statements that allowed both schools to live into who those schools were called to be, but allowing us now as one system to rewrite one mission statement allowed us to just better understand who we are and what we’re desiring to live into.”
